Major Correction to Swords of Aquarius
I find myself in the embarrassing position of having to make a major correction to yesterday’s post. It is made worse by the fact that I was, and remain, largely pleased with the essay as a whole and the conclusions I draw. However…I read a chart of Tarot/Astrological correspondences wrong in preparing the essay. As a result, I stated that the first decan of Aquarius is ruled by mars, this is incorrect. the first decan of of Aquarius is ruled by VENUS, her card is The High Priestess.
How could it be that beautiful and lovely Venus could rule over a decan who’s card is the Five of Swords?
It is important to remember that this isn’t the only “unflattering” placement of Venus. She also rules over the decan f Scorpio containing the Seven of Cups. there we see the Venusian aspect that has to do with the allure of something not exactly “healthy”. Here we see the destructive aspect of that which is irresistibly attractive.
Under the influence of Mars we “drive” toward what we fear (or love). Under the sway of Venus we are DRAWN, sometimes against good sense and even good morals to “fall” for what we most fervently desire. Venus has the power to break up marriages and wreck homes. We might also go to war for what we love. Love of our country and people can be as powerful a force as hatred of an enemy. Sometimes these are indistinguishable. The five of Swords might as easily do exactly the same kind of harm I suggested yesterday under the influence of Venus as Mars. Perhaps more. Venus can appear as a femme fatal.
Two things I have learned from having to make this correction.
1. Make sure you have your correspondences right. Fortunately this wasn’t a spell.
2 Even when you get your correspondences wrong you might still learn something..
thank you all. I’ll be more careful in future.
